The Defense Commissary Agency Business Partners
The Defense Commissary Agency announced in October 2000 the establishment of the Scholarships for Military Children Program. Fisher House Foundation administers the program for DeCA. Commissary business partners donate to Fisher House Foundation, Inc. (Federal Taxpayer Identification Number 11-3158401), which treats each contribution as a "restricted donation." Fisher House Foundation, in turn, contracts with Scholarship Managers to evaluate the applications and select the best qualified applicants as recipients. Every dollar received is given out as a scholarship grant. Fisher House Foundation does not charge for its services, to include the cost of administration and the cost of the scholarship management contract. Business partners are matched as sponsors to individual commissaries and scholarship recipients, and are invited to participate in the ceremonies when the recipients are recognized for their achievements.
